Hello my name is Peter and I have a 1984 Porsche 928. I recently did a t-belt and water pump job on my car and noticed that my oil drive gear was out so I replaced it. While replacing it, I broke the existing oil pump by securing the bolt too tightly, beyond torque specks. I tried replacing it with an S4 pump, but the bolt holes don’t line up, there slightly off. So now I am in dire need of a 84 oil pump, part number 9281071157R. If anyone has one that there willing to part with I would be most appreciative. Please write back ASAP, the car was supposed to be out of the shop last week. Thanks.

Peter

By the way, I have been helping Pete work on his car, and although it says that the oil pumps from the 83-95 are the same, apparently they aren't. The bolt holes are just barely off, and the o-ring seats in a different spot on the pump. This is when compared to an '87 pump.
Just some FYI for the knowledge base...

I think you'll find that what you have there is a part number for the casting; you will need the pump assembly, which is 928.107.008.02 according to PET6.

That seems to be a common issue. 83-95 may use the same casting, so if looking at the casting number it would seem that the pump assemblies are the same. But when the holes are drilled it's different for different years - hence the different part numbers.

It shows up in the "Parts Zone" of our new web store at about $405.
