Awsome! Congratulations! Envy...
I just wish the mistake of an overzealous Police Officer would not have cost you a four digit $$$ figure... Is there any way to recover that money?

This was a tough one. There were numerous points raised during the course of this "ordeal": all the bullets were not fired. Of the ones that were, many hit the mark. One or two were deflected, unfortunately. In California, traffic is a criminal matter, but an infraction, which conveniently relieves the state from having to provide a jury trial. It also means that no court recorder is making a transcript of any of the proceedings, and in this case there were more than one. The issues have been discussed here in previous threads. Just remember two things: 1) you are accused, NOT guilty until proven so, including the right of appeal; and 2) do NOT leave the scene of a stop until you have thoroughly documented the conditions at the site and the circumstances surrounding the bust, including if possible, photos of all relevant material. Go back and park in the spot where the bear first spotted you and photograph from his point of view. Ask him where and when he first spotted you (politely). Never forget to ask to see the display on the gun on a radar bust. Carry a small tape recorder and tell him you are recording the conversation. As you know, I could go on ad nauseum. Find the Law Library in your county and learn to use it.
God bless America.

Ron often this is the point. OF COURSE much can be done on a real court, not the play-play thing they call "traffic court" because it isn't court at all. It's a collection agency.
To the point: Spend the bucks to defend yourself in a real court, or as if you were in a real court, and what happens: you win. BUT at the expense of protracted litigation and many many dollars. No different from any other real case in a real court.
Bottom line:
Find a lawyer who knows how to play by the rules, and you'll pay a few hundered dollars and walk away. But that way ..... you haven't improved the system. Personally I have no money or time to improve the system, I have just a few years and then I'm off this planet. Till then, I play by the rules. This means I know how to get the system to do what I need, which is drive my car as I know it should.

I have been working with some of the same people who succeeded in the repeal of the 55 mph national speed limit. Your car certainly wasn't designed to be limited to 55 mph was it ? So change must come and it will.

So when do we get 155mph speed limits? I need a speeding ticket in a 155mph zone before I die.
Ron, some of your tricks mentioned will not work around here, and will likely have the reverse of the desired effect around here. I have gotten out of a 110+ in a 50 (failure to obey roadsign 0 points), 135 in a 55 ("please sir, try to drive slower"), 110 in a 65 (dismissed), 50 in a 25 plus having my rottweiler jump out of the car and on the cop (dismissed at the cop's request in court), 70 in a 35 state enforcement zone (dismissed by the prosecuter at the court clerks request)... without using any tricks. I was just nice. It doesn't work everytime. The 78 in a 55 (reckless reduced to 19 over) was from a state trooper who hates college students and said I knew "exactly how god damn fast you were going, you have a tachometer don't you!" I had no hope of getting out of that, and the useless lawyer just took my money and screwed me with 4 points.
Then again, what do I know... all those tickets were in Saabs. As little as I've driven my 928, the cops sure do seem to notice and follow it a lot more.

They are not tricks. They are self defense. In my part of the world, in this county alone, each and every month of each and every year, these thieves collect $200,000 in traffic fines. I have sat in one session of court, (there are two per afternoon), and witnessed at least $5000 in fines collected in 1 1/2 hours. While presenting my case in court in one instance, the judge kept telling me to speed things up because he had 2000 tickets with which to deal that day. (Like I gave a rat **** how many tickets his goons had written). I remember a friend of mine who happened to also be a police officer and once chased my 911 on his hog and couldn't catch it ( I didn't realize he was back there) told me that he just wants the guy he stops to admit guilt. That was then and there. Not here. Not with the bull that is dispensed and the illegal methods used to gain that revenue. Self defense. Simple.

Good for you!
[rant]I've thought about running for office here in MI because of the BS traffic laws they have here like the one that if you do not renew you license plate by it's expiry, they charge a $20 penalty (FINE) eventhough you are not required to have your vehicle licensed unless you are diving on public roads. Hello! What ever happened to my rights of due process! MF-ers! Fined me for all three of my vehicles. How do they know if I've been driving on public roads. The P-car certainly has not. Guess I was guilty without given a chance to prove my innocence! Remember: All Politcians want to restrict our freedoms. The debate is over how much to restrict them. [/rant]
