VW Golf (rabbit) bodied 928

Here's some vids - they might provide starting points to finding an owner.
One crashing in an event (possibly check event registration lists - its from 2009 so not too old):
Guy getting in in a Macca's carpark (license plate "0D VW928"?):
And a couple of videos either by an owner, or by someone who knows an owner:

This car has been discussed here before. Perhaps a search would find the past threads.
To find owners, I would contact the German Porsche 928 club (info [ÄT] Porsche-Club-928.de), or ask the guys on the Porsche Fan Forum (www.pff.de).

Race Car
There is (was?) at least one into the Porsche Club 928 Germany.
Contact them:
http://www.porsche-club-928.de
I'm sure you also know the Sbarro 300S, of which 3 were made.

I vividly remember reading about this in one of the car magazines many years ago when I was still in high-school, glad to finally see some images and read about some details about this/these car(s).
One account I recall from the magazine was the big Mercedes and BMW sedan drivers got the shock of their life when a "Rabbit" caught them off guard and blew their doors off on the Autobahn.

The one with the shrunken 928 engine? I'd like to see more pictures of that car, with different angles of he engine.
As wide as the 928 engine is, I don't believe it would fit in this environment. Please convince me otherwise!

Burning Brakes
The car in the photos appear to have a South African number plate on it. FBW928T would be earlier than KFR322T, which was my 1985 GTI.
I am not 100% sure about the dates, but the Golf 2 became available in SA around 1983/4 so I would think it is to early for the body shell. Unless it carried over from the 928.
I do remember reading about a similar car in the SA Car magazine around the late '80s
Also, if I have to guess, these photos were taken behind the pits of the revamped Kayalami racetrack, which also suite for late '80s / early 90s.
Any SA guys know more?

I'm with Nicole. That engine looks like about a 75 % scale version of the 928 engine.

Correct. Except the dorrs, the Nordstadt Golf has no single piece of sheetmetal from a Golf - it was all special made to look like a Golf...
Funny thing: The Nordstadt Golfs were faster than the 928 - because they had a lower drag coefficient. Talk about "looks can be deceiving"...

drag coefficient is literally 1/2 of the equation....frontal area is the other ! So that transit van may have a better coefficient but Have to believe it is punching a bigger hole in the air.....

I'm surprised that no one mentioned the original "stretched" 928 hybrid - an Audi 100 coupe, widened 4.3 inches by the Porsche engineers during 928 development. Page 93 in my copy of Project 928.

Anyone know what's up with Tarek (starter of this old thread) these days?
Tarek was the one who bought my previous '79 928 convertible then tried to mate the car with a big oak tree at SITM a few years back.
