my gearbox has obviously blown a lot of oil through the hole in the top lid (the one with a rubber plug in it).
I believe I read about this problem in an earlier thread, and that it might be caused by the wrong type of gasket.
928intl lists only one type of gasket, and it is identival to the one I had. Just a large area of gasket material under the plug.
Is this som sort of vent hole, and how is it supposed to work, with the end of the rubber plug pressing against the gasket?

The plug is part # 928 310 311 01 and is a breather molded plastic it has little feet which holds the top cap slightly above the aluminum to allow a slight bit of breathing. The part that sticks into the hole is somewhat rectangular try rotating it about 90 degrees so the long side of the rectangle is perpendicular to the transmission .The short sides are rounded and less fluid will splash up and out.
