I have some 18" Avez 10 spokes that I need to have powdercoated and I'm trying to figure out what color. This is for a black car so I don't want to go too dark (see below). Here's what I've been kicking around in my head:
1. Normal metal wheel color like silver, grey, etc. Of couse there's a wide range of shades but basically the same effect. If I go this route any suggestions?
2. A kind of silvery blue like shown on the motorcycle wheel below. I think this would be light enough so the overall look wouldn't be too dark but still stand out. But would blue wheels with a black car look mismatched?
3. Go crazy with a bright yellow-orange glitter just for the hell of it. Maybe a little more orange than the wheel below, of maybe not. The trick is to avoid both the bumble bee look and the Halloween look. Could look sharp or could look cheezy. Not sure if I can pull it off.
Any ideas? Any other suggestions? Any pictures of similar cars you think look good? Any photoshop experts?
Thanks.

Yeah, I think you may be right. This is the first time I've seen them side-by-side and I think my eyeballs are scorched. What color metal? Silver, grey, anthracite, titanium? Don't want chrome.

If you want to go wild, at the very least leave the outer rim silverish in color. I've seen nice examples, where the inner part was in body color. I personally would not mix in any other colors into the wheels - rater do your brake calipers in red or yellow instead.
Generally, keep the numer of dominant colors as low as possible - my recommendation is always to stay with three or less. More is not better when it comes to elegance, but beauty is in the eye of you - the beholder.

I would stay with Titanium or Silver for the center and keep the rim highly polished . I dont care for Black wheels on a Black car but some do. I have always wanted to do a black chrome wheel on a car.

I would do titanium black centers with polished lips, but if you really like these bright colors, go for it. Make yourself happy....I read a book The Art of Selfishness or something like that by Ayn Rand. It;s the only way to pass through life happy and what else os there. If you didn't believe that to a certain extent you wouldn't be driving a Porsche. Carolina blue would look good

The problem is, if the car is black, and the inner parts of the rims are black also, the car gets sooo dark - too dark easily.
In fact, it looks "mean", and that's not everbody's cup of tea. For examplee, when you are not...

I agree with Nicole. Makes a car too dark and like a dark void. All black rim on a black car to me looks like it is driving around on space saver rims. I like "Bling" on a black! I had a Honda Civic Si I bought from the P.R. Dept @ Honda and they had set it up with Black BBS styled rims on a black car. Really didnt like it but drove it for 11 1/2 years. It also had the polised rim. My 1990 928 has the stock rims but have been chromed. Looks nice.
