What is the current value of a Chilton's 924/928 Manual in good condition? How mouch more, if it's new?

I watch every one I find on Ebay. It depends. There have been ones that have gone for $150.00 on Ebay. Most go for around $30.00 or so. However there is one seller who is sniping all he can for less than $30.00 then relists them back on Ebay for a price starting in the $60.00 range and Buy it Now for $75.00. He has sold a few to unsuspecting 928 owners desperate for service information on their shark. All they are really good for is how to change your plugs or oil or starting a camp fire. I tried to give mine away here on the list a few months ago (even on the 924 board) with no takers. I sold it on Ebay for $38 and change. I recently did buy another for $12.00 and 3 bucks for priority mail from Hawaii.

Which leads me to a question. Would it be improper or unethical to email those bidders to warn them of the real value of the manual and to turn them on to Rennlist instead?

I put an extra one I had on eBay and this guy bought it (for $26). He had it back up on eBay before he could possibly have received it, using my photo and description. I know it really shouldn't have, but it pissed me off.

While there's nothing wrong with what this guy's doing... there's something wrong with it.

holy cow, ive got one thats still brand new someplace, bought it years ago, took one look and retired it to the book box as useless...i cant believe their getting so much for them...

Items usefulness and it's collector value are two very different things. There seems to be three outside factory 928 related items (not counting models) that have so far turned into collector items, Project 928 obviously, old Brooklands 928 road test article collection and lately Chilton's manual.

Hi Nicole! Chiltons manual would make a good fire but would be a waste of a good match (IMHO) . I'm surprised someone hasn't offered to send you one as a gag gift. BTW I've been having a blast in your old baby. No problems. Right now it's just sitting as there is 8 inches of snow on the ground with more to come.
