Talking front poly sway bar mounts

Hi and happy new year to all. I have received some poly/ greasable front sway bar mounts and tried to fit them. On taking the old ones off, I noticed that the rubber bushing on the original mount was contoured to fit the shape of chassis. When fitting the poly mount it did not seat correctly.

The poly clamp also appeared to be under-engineered and had to be bent into shape to accomodate the poly mount. Nothing fitted as it should have-so the originals are back on the car.

The parts were from one of the big 3, so should they have fitted correctly? What are your experiences with the poly mounts - do they work better than oem.

Thanks

If those are like mine, the poly mounts are generic versions that you can get from any aftermarket parts warehouse.

I got longer bolts and put some washers behind the bracket to make it fit better and not crush the bracket.

Also expected better from those as being "928" parts. You can get them more cheaply by measuring you sway bar, rounding up to the next US size and ordering them from Summit.

The poly bushings that I purchased from 928 Specialists installed without issue. I did the install back in 2002. The car now feels like it has a larger sway bar installed.

Thanks for the responses - apparently the poly mounts will fit with some persuasion:

" We hear this comment from time to time and everything will be fine.
The “lack” of the seating groove” is not and has never been an issue in over 7 years and thousands of installations. Same goes for the slight distortion of the mount clamp.
Neither of these are an issue to be concerned about. As I said we have sold thousands and NEVER had a failure of those ..yet.
However if you feel uncomfortable with those you are certainly welcome to return them for a refund. I do not want any 928 owner to be unhappy with items they got from us"

So I guess I will get a bit more agressive when fitting them next weekend.

same issue on my 85 w/the sway bar mounts... a-arm stuff was tricky, but was not so bad... just make'em fit... IMO, most aftermarket stuff needs some persuasion/adjusting/etc to fit... rarely get a "factory" fit from anybody for anything but rims & tires... welcome to the world of aftermarket stuff...
