Question Before I screw up a set of seats ?

To remove the front seats do I take out the 4 bolts that hold the side of the track at the front, or is it the alen head bolt that is in the center of the track? Seats are going to live in another 928 and I dont want to mess the track up for the guy.

You don't list the MY of your car in you sig line. Mine has in each rail one at the front and two at the rear. You must crank it back to get at the front and forward to get at the rears. Even then I used an "L" allen break loose the rears. HTH

its an 84. It has the one allen head at the front of each track and on the sides of the rail it has two small bolts. They may take about a 10 socket. They are just forward of the allen head bolts. I was not sure if those are the attachment bolts and the allen head was a stop. One last thing say you already have a bunch of the wire harness apart and dont want to risk burning down the garage with a short. Is there a way to manualy crank the motors or drives to bring them forward? Thanks Larry

The power connection is a four post with one plastic guide post. It is mounted up near the springs and hard to see; once that is disconnected there should be no shorting; you may want to disconnect the batt anyway. My bolts are in the center of the rail. Mine has access for manual cranking in the center of the cover at center lower front of seat. I think after removing the front bolts and then cranking it forward you will see the bolts at the rear.

My 83 has one allen head (cap screw) at each corner holding the rails to the floor. Seat at rearmost to access front bolts, then RAISE seat to max height to give access to rear bolts - easy then. Also easier with small (4", 100mm) ratchet tool that takes allen key bits. There was a cross shaft that carried fwd-back travel across the seat base from the motor that could (just barely) be turned by hand once you moved a lever sideways to disconnect the motor drive gear from the sahft. Lots of lubrication needed to free it up. I doubt you could move the seat by hand while it was fitted in place, if it was as stiff as mine.
