Default Trim between radio and climate control

On my '89 GT, the trim piece below the climate control and above the radio (37 in the attached image?) contains the AC compressor switch, the odometer zero button, an alarm LED, and lock button.

Did other years have fewer switches? I'd like to find one with as few installed gewgaws as possible, because this seems like the perfect place to mount my V1 display and laser jammer switch. If I had one of these panels with no holes in it, I'd replace the compressor switch with a toggle switch and replace the buttons with smaller buttons, all closer together, to make room for my ECM.

Any thoughts?

My '91 only has the AC switch and the power lock switch. Sounds like an interesting project you have there. Please take pictures of the process and do a writeup - there might be others interested, including yours truly.

Thanks, BerNard. It looked too broad to be the right part.

So far it sounds like the '83 is the blankest (no compressor switch?).

maybe this will help; this is the console i just pulled out of my 82' , climate control and "!" units removed, as well as the trim plates, ashtray, etc... the openings next to the clock were not used, the trim plate simply covered them up..

pretty roomy eh??

PS: Remember the condition of my interior, this console is par for course as to the entire interior.. i guarentee you will be both shocked and amazed in a few days when i complete the "fixin"..

If I recall, in my 87 there were a pair of seat belt warning indicator lights (indicating that you didn't have your sealt belt fastened).

I installed the ARM-1 (Air-Fuel Ratio meter) in this space.
