Unhappy US postage problem

Happy new year to all! Having not been on the forum for long i have to say i'm impressed by the wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm that abounds! Bit of a none 928 query, but here goes - i often browse ebay (don't we all?) for bits, as many more 928's were sold in the US than the UK and with the strength of the £ at the moment its more often than not cheaper to buy and ship parts over than purchase in the UK. Service has always been excellent (fingers crossed!) I also own a 1991 suzuki gsxr 750 motorbike and recently came across a set of mirrors on ebay - brand new, buy it now item, great i thought, just what i need! Despite emailing seller offering to pay immediately inc. agreed postage and my 100% feedback, refusal was point blank, "only ship to US"! Anyone any idea how i could get around problem? Theres a 928 manual and parts fiche cd for the best solution!

Oh, and if anyone hears of any dark blue interior panels for sale, always interested!

one reason folks don't like to ship overseas is tracking... once it leaves the US, our postal service has no way to track it, add customs changes since 9-11 and you have your reason....
I would suggest finding someone here in the US who either ships internationally on a regular basis (928INternational) or someone you know/trust who is willing to take shipment here and forward to you

Different countries, different rules. Most sellers don't want to be bothered with selling abroad. Too often the shipment gets to the country has additional duty to be collected and the buyer never claims it. The seller is getting grief from the buyer because he though he "paid for shipping" and the seller should pay all taxes/duties. Leaving everyone unhappy.

Both DHL & FedEx do a good job with the tracking, but you will pay for it.

I think Mail Boxes Etc. will do that for you. They have a website at http://www.mbe.com/ but you'll probably have to talk to one of the stores directly.

If you have the ship sent to me I can turn around and ship it to you via FedEx for and estimated 68.00 usd. That is the Heathrow area. It will be more the further away from Heathrow you are. PM me if you need my help. Also, the duty will not be included.

I have quite a few customers in the UK and other European countries, and have noticed that UK customs are very strict when it comes to collecting duty. Anything declared over about $20 seems to get them active...

In here it's $50 before customs react. Smaller amount don't usually mean customs duties. Unless it's me Must be on favored customer list or something as packages almost always end up in there no matter what value is stated. Had especially funny incident some years ago when officials tried to decide if set of 928 workshop manuals are literature from viewpoint of customs codes. Didn't made much difference on payment but correct code had to be selected.

never yet had anybody refuse to ship to me but some sellers try to charge excessive rates for shipping to europe. They seem to forget the rates for all the majors incl. US post are on-line.
Duty is a big issue here as they have some fixed charges which make circa 50/100 USD items expensive but it it averages out OK for higher priced items.
Mostly buy Mustang parts in the US, sometimes unreal comparisons to 928 parts. just ordered a whole from cats back double exhaust with 2 mufflers & that is about the same price as one 928 rmb

Some German auto parts suppliers have pretty good 928 part prices but they won`t ship outside of Germany, no idea why - it is pretty simple to do, especially within the EU where there are no duties to worry about.
Also Amazon in Germany have funny rules, they will mosty only ship to Germany, austria and Switzerland - often they won`t ship some items to switzerland like electronic items and some books. It is a pain when you go through the whole order/checkout process and right at the end they refuse to ship....
