Default Tranny fluid leak

I have been leaking fluid for some time now and was checking it every 2 - 3 weeks. It has been low every time but only taking about a pint or so. Today after raising the car high enough to get my fat *** completely under the car to change the little gasket in the spiky plastic nut thingy I notice a hose above the resi that was not in place. If my light did not reflect off the little drip that was on the end of that hose I would not have even seen it. I needed my funky pliers to get the hose back on. QUESTION????? would that hose being off allow the tranny to loose that much fluid? The funny thing is I do not have much fluid on my garage floor at all. A 1 foot stain not even wet just moist. Also, There does not seem to be much of a mess behind the pan as you would think from wind. I hope that did the trick......

Sounds like the 'return excess to tranny body' hose from top of reservoir....needed when fluid drains down of of converter when stopped and cooled. On my 3 speed thats what it looks like anyway.

That is where the hose goes to. Into the top of the reservoir.
