Default Speaker dent.

I had the grille off of my driver door speakers, and the round "dome" in the middle of the cone got dented during some non-driving-related activity.

The speaker needs refoaming anyway. Do I need to return the dome to its original convex shape? How can I do so?

Thanks.

Mark,
I've done this a few times myself.
I found the easiest way was to use a very fine needle, insert the needle into the dome (acutal name is dust cap) a few mm and use the needle to gently lift the dust cap back to its original position.

HTH,
Scott

Thanks. A pinhole in the dust cap won't affect sound quality?

Just an idea: How about using a vacuum cleaner to pull out the "dust cap"? Just be careful with the vacuum...

The dust cap can be removed, reshaped and reglued. Standard part of a speaker rebuild, such as when refoaming.
