Are these fixable?

Are these fixable?
1985/86 32V camshafts, purchased from Ebay.
Shipment was "lost", then found, then forwarded to me.
Box was obviously repacked in transit, as the box is a UPS box, with no other labeling other then the corporate re-shippment label.

As I mentioned, it looks like some malfeasence on UPS. Repacked box, "lost" shipment for three weeks.
AND, upon further inspection, the internal boxes with the cams in them are labeled Dec 1, and the package was shipped Nov 19th. So someone was in there absolutley.

Save everything! The shipper (ebay seller) has to file a claim with UPS. I hope the shipper insured them for their true replacement value(however I doubt it). Other then that you're going to get $99.99 and a "We're sorry". UPS will probably come back with the "insuffient packaging" line
which will further delay the process.
Ebay has some sort of buyer protection that you may want to investigate. Overall I wish you good luck

Yes camshafts need to be very carefully boxed and padded or they will bang against each other and the camshafts are quite brittle. Good luck with UPS they will only cover the insured value and only if it was insured and the fact that the box failed is "evidence" that they were NOT correctly packaged.

The items were insured for 1000 dollars - what it would take, I believe, to buy them used from you Jim.
Two are damaged, so I would assume a 500 dollar payment from UPS to the shipper would happen.
I'm an insurance agent. This is going to happen the right way.
It one side of the engine. The other two cams are fine. Luckily I never sold my S4 cams if they are needed when I go to put the engine together and need something. One more psi of boost should take care of whatever gains I would recieve from these cams I suppose.

UPS has for many years self insured for all shipments every dollar they pay out is a dollar less of profit. They book all the extra "insurance" fees as revenue. Go get them , it is a negotiation and a judgement call on the part of the UPS representitive.

UPS lost 2 tie rods (not 928) out of a small shipment to Riyadh a couple of years ago. I picked up the box, took it home opened it, went Uh oh? Went back , pointed to the original shipping weight being greater than weight on delivery, AND a triplicate docket thing recording 'something metallic lost' inside the box! For a few weeks it was ' Call head office' or 'call London' or 'call somebody who cares'....Finally I gave enough grief to the US supplier to get into the local UPS office that they finally gave the value of the items, and free shipment of the replacements. Took several months though, and a lot of aggravation. Used Fedex ever after that.
