I did the same thing as you guys today with one of the guys who was working there. He went out to play with me and after following him for 5-6 laps i gently helped him into a spin after the hairpin on the back straight..

He then found his way into the pits and blackflagged me, shouted at me for a little while and I apologized blaiming my lack of skill and judgement. After this he let me out to play again and I had tears in my eyes of grinning. Wierd how some guys can't stand being passed.

For the last 45 minutes there was a group of ricers who used the technique "spinning often enough will lead to eventually hitting an apex" and I called it quits since it wasn't really safe anymore. One of them rice boyz showed his excellent speed skills by using me as a brake when I was sitting still waiting for two guys to get going after they both had spun on the same place..

I figured it out today, the fastest line around the track has great grip since all the rubber laid down. So when driving try and see where the track has a duller finish and simply follow that line even though it isn't the natural line (they have probably moved the track walls around a bit).

I cracked that wierd corner where Bill passed me, instead of picking up speed into the first left brake there even though it is unnatural since there is a lot of speed to pick up in that section. Then jab the steering wheels to the left to create understeer and apply power gently to fourwheel drift close to the late apex where you mash the throttle and let the rear step out to get a diagonal line pointing straight into the corner down at the hairpin. Get the speed down very slow and point the cart around to get a late apex (you actually stay pretty far away from the inner and don't really search an apex in that hairpin).

Now, if I could only get down to 180 lbs (240+ now) pounds or so and the track record would be in danger..

Anders, that is fast. So, you figured out the last hairpin and the kart track's version of turn 11 at Thunderhill. I'll have to follow you around next time.

Yeah, and as it usually is for me driving slower at places and being patient before gunning it to avoid going sideways will give bigger momentum out of the turn. At least in a rental kart since the will speed just scrub off (need more power).

Speaking of gokarts, this one would be fun to try.

Here's a cart racing tip -

To reduce understeer, lean forward in the cart to move more weight over the front wheels for improved steering traction.

That works but only to a degree, I have used that technique and tried it on this track as well. Problem is that the kart will handle differently all of the time. It is much better to sit still and get the same balance all over the track.
