Whether or not the knock sensors needed to be disconnected, they WERE disconnected, and only one was RE-connected. I can't seem to see/find/reach the one that runs to the passenger side, and am not sure if the one to the driver's side is actually connected to the one that should be connected to the driver's side. My sense is that the connector is lying somewhere in the Vee, and I won't be able to reach it without removing the SC. I don't think the manifold will need to be removed, but who knows.

30# injectors.

Thanks alot for the ride Brian. I think your plan to go through the back is right.

I had a thought on the way to mission valley, and it was that there is also a plug for the speed refernence sensor where I thought the knock sensor plug is as well. You may want to makes ure you check that as well to make sure... I'm not sure if the care wout run with the speed reference unhooked though so....

Any time you need a passenger to read off AFR numbers, you just give me a call.

Brian,
You are very welcomed. It was nice seeing you again. I wish Pete had not gotten sick or we would have had his car done too. If he had stayed healthy and Dave Howerdel hadn't had a clutch problem to deal with pre-install there would have been 5 new SUPERMODELs hiting the street by Tuesday. Oh well 3 including your's and a GTS isn't bad I guess.

For the knock sensor wire. You may be able to spot it in broad day light and just fish it out. If not then just loosen the hose clamp at the throttlebody, loosen the belt, loosen the two bolts that hold the snout support together, remover the 8 bolts that hold the SC down. If you still can't see it you can use a clothes hanger to fish it out. Don't forget to reseal the SC adapter plate to the manifold when bolting the SC back down.

My car idles perfectly smoothly, and at ~750. How do you have it running at such a high fuel pressure? The BEGI must be really screwed down, both the Allen nut and the needle valve, huh?

Please realize that the BEgi will not effect idle fuel pressure at all unless the vacuum line to the manifold is off of it.

9 of my systems are on the road. 4 of 85-86 (3TS,1 eaton), 4 of S4 (3TS, 1 eaton) 1 of GTS (TS, laminar flow IC).

HTH,

Just an FYI Brian.
if i back every adjustable screw out(litterally..out) on my rising rate regulator and on my BEGI, the lowest fuel pressure i can get is 40psi. I did that little experiemnt for what its worth when i first hooked it all up.

One thing that I realized recently is that the 85-86 fuel pressure regulator will drop the fuel pressure to around 30 at idle with the 30# injectors on the S4. This means an S4 can have mixture that is very close to stock off boost witht the 30# injectors and the 85-86 regulator. The best part is that a used 85-86 regulator is pretty inexpensive from 928 Int, less than $40. The 85-86 damper may need to be used in conjunction but I have yet to determine this. However I think the stock one will be fine considering 85-86 and S4 use a 930 part #.

Thanks Andy for coming down last Monday. I can't tell you how good it was to have you there as we had lots of questions. I'm planning to finish the SC install Sunday. I'm hoping I can get Brian down to assist or at least use his car as an example. I think that was the longest day of my life!

Hope all is well
