928 Rental in Germany?
Hope this isn't OT, but I am planning on going back to Germany in early March, and am planning on a Porsche factory tour and a trip on the Nurburing. Anyone here know if there is a possibility for renting a 928 while in country? Would love to have the opportunity to cruise the Autobahn in a car that was built for that purpose Any suggestions or alternates most welcome!

Hey Bill,
Did you figure out the problem with your emissions yet?
I doubt you will fing one to rent, but I have a couple good friends over there I put you in contact with. They go to the N-ring all the time. I'm sure they'd be happy to get together with you so you enjoy the experience of a 928 the way it was meant to be driven.

Bill,
The Nurburgring is only open to "tourist drives" on certain days. Be sure to confirm that your trip overlaps those days or you'll just be able to look at it through the fence. You also need to be concerned with weather/snow. I don't think they plow it in the winter and it is closed when not passable. Early March may be too early for the season.
Many of the Autobahns now have top speed limits or are too busy to reach a high speed for any distance. The closer to a big city the more traffic. There are a few Autobahns that are good runs on early Sunday mornings. You'll need to check with locals for their recommendations. Again, weather is a big issue. March can be a pretty unpredictable time for clear dry days.

Hey John - just passed emissions yesterday. Not sure if it was the O2 sensor, but I just barely made it.
I would happily take you up on your offer to get in touch with some 928'ers in Germany. Rich and Nicole are right - the weather conditions will be dicey, but even if I don't get to play in a 928, it would still be good to hook up with some fellow enthusiasts while I am there. I have to use a ticket by the end of March, so I don't have too much of a choice on when I can go.
Thanks!
