Converting Flatdish to CS wheels
#47
Hey, is there any possibility of having the forged flat dishes cut into something other than the CS/D90's? Would there be stability/integrity issues if it were cut out more, something more custom looking? Pardon my ignorance regarding the structure of the wheels. I am probably less of a fan of the D90/CS design than the Flat Dish, but I do have my factory set of anodized Flat Dishes now gathering dust & am curious what the possibilities might be in other milled designs?? So many great creative minds here on Rennlist, if that were possible, it'd be neat to see what looks some might come up with yes?

Hey Mel, you don't happen to have any tires on your old flats, do you? I'm working on getting some 18" wheels reconditioned (deplated, sandblasted, and polished or painted) for my project car and meanwhile don't have any wheels to move it around. Actually only need 3 since I have a spare.

The info I found out from a local machine shop is as follows:
To cut flat dish wheels into a Club Sport look alike, the cost would be approximately ~$150 per wheel, plus tax. You would need a real Club Sport to let them measure in order to make sure the cuts are accurate. You also have the cost of shipping to contend with. Any local machine shop should have comparable prices.
I never checked with Devek to see what their price was, but if it's close, it may be easiest to buy a set from them.

Victor, yes, they have Continetals on them with about 4-5k miles on them. Think they are 225/45/16s all round. Let me know if youre interested, I have been going back n forth on whether to sell them or keep them just in case I ever sold the car & the buyer was a purist & wanted the original factory flat dishes.

Heinrich is correct... I managed to find the wrong piece of paper, which was an earlier quote. See the above message for the corrected price.
