exhaust system
what kinda exhaust system would work best for my car. Keep in mind we don't have any smog laws here. I was thinking of getting rid of the cats and the rear muffler and just putting in a single muffler. Will that create enough back pressure so I don't get any popping or do I need something else. I have a monza tip sitting at home that I could use as well.

Borla all the way. They make a cat back system that is just a bolt in. I removed my cats on the 82 and had a "Y" pipe fabricated in it's place. I have MSDS headers, but you don't have to go that far. The sound is distinct and beats listening to the radio!

Borla is the one to get. You should be able to slap their cat-back setup on your '80 in an hour or two, depending on how much time you spend under there admiring it...

If you have a Monza tip already, I am pretty happy with
a Flowmaster, and Monza tip combo... A flowmaster
by itself is a bit too loud, but with the Monza tip,
it sounds perfect to me...

For a sound and performance I'd kill to get on the S4, the '80 has in spades: Before you replace the large single pipe system, remove and rod out the stock cat. Reinstall with the O2 sensor, and keep the almost non-existant center resonator - and the elephants kidney rear OEM muffler.
If you don't like that, then on to Borla land .... but this is a no-brainer, no-cost option - that I wouldn't exchange for a free brand X system.

what about a borla muffler with a monza tip?? What type of borla muffler should I look at getting?? I don''t think I will need the whole cat back system because my existing pipe is still really good.

If you want to keep your pipes, for the most part, but ditch the cat,
why not do what Porken did, and stick a Flowmaster where the cats were,
and then replace the rear muffler with your Monza tip? Maybe leave
the mid-resonator on at first, and if it is too quiet, replace the resonator
with a bypass pipe?

A flowmaster has no baffling material.
If you use a muffler with packing material up front by the headers, it will burn up and degrade due to the heat.
But a Flowmaster just uses resonance cancellation chambers. So there is nothing to burn up, or blow out.
And putting a muffler where the cats used to be, is a good use of the space...

so the placement of the muffler will not alter the sound of the car??
Also, I was watching a car show the other day. I saw the ferrari enzo. That car sounded pretty sweet. What type of system setup would give more of a sound like a lambo or ferrari. Just currious.
