Oil Pressure Problem
Just finished my MM's and the oil pan gasket and I've run into a problem
Upon start-up, I get an oil warning flashing on the dash (I believe it is a no oil pressure warning where the ! flashes along with the red light at the bottom of the oil pressure gauge). While I did the oil pan gasket I removed the oil pressure sender and cleaned it up and I removed the wire from the oil level indicator. I have added 8 fresh quarts of Mobil 1 with a new filter but was wondering if the oil pressure sender's wires were backward and could cause this problem? Could I have damaged the oil pressure sender? The pointer on the oil pressure goes to above 5 bars on the dash. Any thoughts or items I should be looking for.
TIA.

Cannot hurt to reverse the pressure transducer leads - for a test: also a good point to recheck the single wire to the front level indicator. M/M and pan done!

The oil SENDER wires should be blue with a white trace for the gauge side, and blue with black trace for the supply. The single wire from the oil LEVEL switch is green with a blue trace. If you have it wired correctly, investigate the connector T18 located just behind the jump start bolt on the pass fender. There is a rectangular connector with all the sender wires running in it plus the field voltage for the alternator and the solenoid pick for the starter. These wires can become easily fried in the loom, and will cause all types of gauge trouble.
I peeled back the loom cover about 1/2 meter until I found good wire insulation, then spliced in new wires and that fixed all my sender issues. A voltmeter can be used on that connector to isolate cross connected wires, and shorts to either ground or to the +12V field wire.

Well just to inform you all - the pressure sender is very specific in the terminal wiring. Mine was backwards which was giving me the central warning light indicator. I swapped the leads and presto - the alarm vanished.
Thanks for the input - and anyone who needs to replace this in the future make note.
