There is a 928 for sale around the corner from the house. It is at a little independent car lot. I'm kinda curious as to what the current prices are. What I know, 67K miles, BAD tires (they don't match, and the directional tires on the rear are mounted backwards). Interior is good. Not too great of a yellow respray over the original white. Looks like it might have been a grey market car, as it has a DOT lable on the inside of the driver's door, showing some importer's information.

From my observations:
There are few '85 selling for more the $8k and in most cases the condition is very good (or the problems are well hidden) . The majority have some issues
mostly neglected mainteniance. From your quick peek you've identified several issues that would lead me to believe that this car was not well cared for. In case you're considering buying it. Get a PPI!
So to answer your question I doubt many people would pay more then $5k., also consider if it's a 5 spd, interior and the last TB service. What is the asking price?

I'll look more at it tomorrow, and find the asking price. It is an auto. I'm not really in the market for another car, but I've loved the 928's for a long time. After being through my 944 as much as I have, if I were to consider it I'd plan on doing the work myself. Just kinda curious.

Read the FAQ's at the top of the page.
It sounds scary, but an '85 Euro _could_ be desirable if you have time, space, patience and $$ for restoration. Look for the engine type M28/22. More at ...

If you're interested, a PPI will be worthwhile for decision-making info and bargaining.

Well, turns out its and 84 and pretty much seems like a very neglected example of what used to be a fine automobile. I think that the dealer who has it, will have it for a VERY long time. They are asking $6k and would go to 5.5K.
