Default Product Review- New Corbeau GTS II seat in 928

First, the stock seat had obviously been habituated by someone with serious posture issues. My 6'-2" 230lb frame was forced into angling my butt out to the left and that bolster was tweaked in a way to demand that I keep my left knee tucked up by the wheel with my foot flat on the floor. And the seat was stuck at its highest possible elevation, so I have developed an effective slouch that keeps my head out of the sunroof rail.
Here are the seats

and the Corbeau rack specified for all 928's

I ran out of daylight for pics of the installation, but the rack attaches to the seat first on the inner rails then the outer frame bolts to the stock mounting points- the ones with the Allen head bolt into the fitted block that rests in the underside of the mount. Well, those bolts were both to short and too slim to fill the large holes in the Corbeau frame. I ran to Home Despot and grabbed some 6mm x whatever fit the block hex head bolts long enough to work and some 3/16" fender washers for insurance. I drilled out four of the washers to fit the new bolts and mounting the seat was a snap.

NOTE- The ratcheting end wrench made life much easier than it could have been. A regular end wrench might be manageable to smaller hands, but I have meathooks.

Results- The seat rack is a bit odd in that the slide handle is fixed to the rack and not the seat. So when you want to slide forward your hand will end up under the seat to keep the lever pulled. The when all the way back, that same handle is sticking out farther than one would expect. Harmless, but odd.

Height- It appears that the new seat is much thinner in the lower cushion, likewise the mounting rack. Yet when mounted, it seems to be just as high as the seat I took out, if not higher. I fashioned some shims for the front of the rack to maybe tilt the *** down a bit in the fully rearward position I found best suited for me. It's still too high though.
The Seat- I was underwhelmed with the material. It's nice and clingy, but it feels like I could tear a big gash in it with just a hangnail. The bolsters feel tight without cramping my 38" waistline. The bottom pad is quite hard. Seems like I should have gained more headroom seeing as they used two layers of toilet paper to pad that bottom. In contrast, the backrest feels decently padded and fit nicely enough. I had to recline it enough to gain headroom that the headrest is too far aft and useless for anything other than naps.
I have only put about 50 miles on the seat so far. The hard butt cushion I think will be OK, if I can gain some head room on my next attempt to lower the seat.

Cost- I took advantage of a one-week only 10% discount flyer (posted by fellow Rennlister Ferris B) from the company as well as free shipping. So-Regular price- $320 -$32= 288.00 and the rack, $56-5.60= $50.40 total -$328.40. Suspending judgement pending further mounting experiments. Stay tuned.

I have the GT-7 (I think) seats. My PO installed them and I've been comfortable in them for over 4 years. They also have this knit fabric which is good at holding you in, but it picks up lint, dog hair, etc in a bad way, and is difficult to clean. However, after 55,000+ miles the seats are still in good shape - no tears, pulls, rips. The fabric seems quite durable.
