Inside mirror came off
Ok, I go to adjust the inside mirror and it just falls off. Left a layer of what looks like hardened glue on the glass. Any one had to put one back on and if so what type of adhesive do I need?

Any auto parts store should sell rear-view mirror glue. Draw a circle on the ouside with a marker before cleaning off the old glue - that way you know where to put it.
I pulled mine off while on the grid waiting to go out on the track last year. It's fun learning how to drive without a mirror on the track.

In addition to HP's good advice, make sure you sand off the old glue from the metal mirror "button" that you'll be sticking to the glass. I replaced mine a while back. There's one thing I wish I had done differently. When the mounting button was completely adherent, dry, and sticking to the windshield, I mated the mirror to it, but the button wouldn't quite snap all the way into the mirror bracket. I had thought about mounting the mirror to the button first, but that would be too much weight to stick on the window while the glue was still wet. However, I'd make sure the button fits easily into the bracket first before you glue it onto the window.
I've also heard that 928 windshields crack fairly easily from inside-out pressure, so be a little careful.

I forgot about that bigs - I did spend a lot of time making sure the button would slide off/on my mirror. Had to bend it just a bit where the morror slides in to make sure it would not take too much pressure.

Just a thought here... some of our windshields have a plastic coating on the inside for safety purposes. I would be careful about sandin or scraping the old glue off until you determine whether or not you have this situation. If it's just glass a straight razor blade will easily remove the old glue and the aftermarket 2 part glues referred to previously do work very well as long as everything is CLEAN. Have fun!

Bill,
I think bigs sanding suggestion is for the metal part on the mirror itself, not on the glass. Rubbing alcohol should take everything off the glass, if not try goo-gone.

Don't worry about doing it yourself. Just go to an auto-glass or body shop! They'll glue it back on for you for free....takes them about 5-10 minutes. I just had mine drop off while adjusting it, and I took it to one of the local Auto Glass shops and they were happy to put it back on for me for no charge.

I kinda agree with Curtis about the rearview mirror being overrated - at least in the 87+ MY's. In mine, I can never decide what to do about the rear spoiler in the mirror. If I set the mirror to show the entire rear window view, I've got the spoiler running right through the middle of it. If I set the mirror "above" the spoiler, the interior headliner takes up about a fourth of the view. Kinda bugs me either way!
