now, if you are atributing the lack of base engine HP on the NOS, this might be true, only because of the power and heat the engine was seeing. 550rwhp!!!! thats 50 more hp than a built motor by greg brown with all the fancy high performance stuff. im sure , the loss of hp was due to burned valves, or stressed rings, or who knows, he was driving it hard for a year, who knows what could have been going wrong. could be due to anything. probably not the NOS but certainly the extra power!
Mark, I am not going to argue with you cause I know it will do nothing more than to make me angry, but you are full of it.

Man..NOS is much more harmful if you're not dead nuts on your fuel add.

How many who have posted have used/ installed nitrous on any car, let alone a 928? I have had kits on everything from my 928 to our old town & country minivan. The misinformation spread by know it alls is amazing, if you have no real experience on a subject STFU.

Many, many cars over the last 25 years, and not little shots either.
If any thing the 928 is a poor choice due the the issues with the rod bearings.

I knew you were one of the few with first hand knowledge.

Agreed but, who wants to be like everyone else and build a mustang.

Oh gosh, no way I can remember that detail now. From what I can remember it was a 16V Euro S and the guy was a mechanic at a Ford Dealership. It was something he put together himself with parts he had on hand.

I still do remember it was a strong running 928 withotu the nitrous..and when he punched it and then hit the switch around 4K or so it felt like we were hit from behind.

Fun stuff!

These days with the progressive controllers - I don't think it's any more or less harmful than any of the other power adders.

I used to have a 75 shot on my old '82. It was fun, but I got tired of filling the bottle. Davek9 has a 150 shot on his car, but is banned from posting until he gets Rhudy's car together and running. If it's not ready to go by SITM, he may not live long enough to contribute to this thread.

When I was too poor for more boost, I worked up a 120Hp dry shot on the existing fuel system on the old supra.

It it anything between 2500 and 5000rpm, and with WOT.

Over that, I had insufficient fuel resources in the higher RPMs on the stock hardware.

Was a fun three years on that...until it got too hard to fill the bottle.

Mark Kibort used to use it, but dosen't anymore. Ed MD said that he used to use it on 944s, but now has superchargers on two of his 928s, and a Chevy engine in another. The guy who DR mentioned had it on his 928, and took it off. Andrew had it on a prvious 928, got rid of it, and now has a supercharger on his current 928. The starter of this thread asked about nitrous, but now has a supercharger on his 928. Speedtoys used it on a Supra, "until it got too hard to fill the bottle".

What does all that tell you?

Oh, and I first started using nitrous in cars 30 years ago.

I think that is a good point. Doesn't mean NOS is bad, but with some members it was a stepping stone until they built what they want.

Hard to pass up on the power and the fun factor if setup properly!

My feeling from day one was that 350rwhp would be a good target for the street in a 928. Would I rather have a NA setup with that power and a SC or turbo with that power second, sure I would. A SC kit or turbo will cost 6k plus when said and done. Then tune it. Don't have it. I personally wouldn't even feel safe w/o new HG and rings so a refresh will be in order Gets expensive to play.

I will probably be close to 350rwhp w/ a 100 shot. I have arrived! Then I can build the NA motor that I want and one day swap them out.

For me it is not that this is better than that and all that good stuf. It is a means to and end that is economical and if used properly should be a lot of fun and smiles. Thats what it is about. The smile and the feeling that I get when I start my car and take her out. Everyday! It is enjoying the process, not the destination as I will never get there anyway and that is OK.

My 928, this forum and the awesome members that I have met and those I haven't, have been a real blessing and it will only get better.
