I run my car at 155mm to the measuring spots all around. Handles great. Front springs should have adjusters. The early cars (before 1983?) had no adjusters.

Get it aligned after lowering. It will make the car go tow out.

Thanks everyone with the great responses... I will try lowering the front first since the rear has already been lowered, and it has a 150 lbs of stereo equipment. The rear sits on the wheel, and the front has about 2-2.5 inches of fender gap. The pics of 928s I see stock look much better with a little bit of rake, so I will probably just lower the front so it sits like that, just a little lower. I don't want it in the weeds, just lower than stock. Thanks again everyone!

Is the front suspension fully settled? Take it out and slam on the brakes a few times... lock 'em up from ~30mph at least two or three times and see if it changes.

How do you lower the front of a car that's been on a diet?

Mine rides on the high side of stock now, and there's no non-destructive way I can see to bring it down, without adding weight back in.

Eat & drink well ( no Atkins stuff) and slide the seat full ahead NASCAR style.

Porken in the interest of additional weight reduction cut off a half a coil that will also increase the spring rate which is not a bad thing.

I dunno, the car was built in 1986, and hasn't been altered, I would figure the springs would have settled by now..

I mean since the last time you jacked up the car. After jacking, the car sits too high in the front for several dozen miles until it settles... you can get the suspension 95% settled by slamming on the brakes as I mentioned.

OK, I'll bite! If you are unaware, everytime the front end is jacked off terra firma, the lower A-arm bushings torque so nicely that it can take up to 50-60 miles of driving before it resettles to normal height - no poo!
Read threads on front end alignment, etc. BTW, to get the attitude adjustment spoken of, perhaps a little down on the front, a little up in the rear will do: it is best to find the 4 spots and measure. Good luck.

I agree with Jim, Porken...

Cut a coil, and you will have stiffer spring rate, and a lower ride...
My guess is that you will need to cut a whole coil.

But again, after the adjustment, it's back to the alignment shop...

And to back up everyone's comments about lowering,
I am in the process of getting my car back up off the ground,
because it was constantly scraping and bottoming out,
which tends to make you really paranoid, when you
know how much all those parts cost. Hearing them
smack into the pavement at every dip, is not fun...

You can go a little lower than stock, but if you get
it too low, you will thrash the engine, AC, alternator, etc...

you want to go low? be a first and put a adjustable suspension (air bags) just keep the sway bars in so it doesnt lean to much in the turns otherwise the ride is like a caddy. Here i did it to my scion xb. in the pic its not all the way down, it still had 2 more inches of travel but thats how i drove it.

BC, Garth, and Dave, thanks for the responses. Yes I know when you jack a car up, it has to settle, I have lowered EVERY car I have ever owned, and know the procedure to lowering it, driving it for a few miles, rechecking etc etc. It is esp a pita with my dad's Vert Stang, since it has coil overs at all four. You adjust it perfect, and then the car isn't level side to side, or corner to corner lol. I've spent 2-3 hours messing with it sometimes. Anyways, I thank everyone with their insite. I will be lowering the car as soon as I get the keys. I am going to CA next week, and could do it then, but my dad might take the front bumper off it or something, he doesn't seem to understand going around pot holes and such.

I am not going to slam it, esp after reading the damaging the alt or the block comments, but I will lower the front prob an inch, and the back 1/2, since it has already been lowered about 1/2 an inch. I'll probably stiffen the shocks a turn too, to keep the car from compressing too much, too fast.

The reason we keep going on about settling suspension is because the 928 is unique in this respect. It takes many miles of driving to settle it properly. This is very much different than past cars you've had experience with. Also, unlike other cars, you are unlikely to improve the handling by lowering. But, it's your car, do what you want, obviously.
