Default fuel leak...

Hi all,
Nothing but issues with my 79 928. Tonight while turning the corner to my house I hear a loud sound from the right rear of the car. Sounds like air leaking from a tire quite loudly. A whooshing sound if you will. Anyway, I can tell I don't have a flat tire and luckily I'm on the block I live on so I quickly get in the driveway and shut the car down. The noise stops when I shut the car off. I got out and walked around the car to find I'd leaked fuel all the way down the street and into the driveway and theres quite a puddle forming under the car near the right tire. Unfortunately my street isn't well lit and I can't seem to find the flashlight I thought I owned so I can't really tell where exactly the leak is coming from but my driveway is rapidly turning into a fuel pit.

Any ideas?

This is the location of your fuel filter and fuel accumulator. Remove the panel in the right rear wheel well and inspect for ruptured fuel line or leaking accumulator. Keep a fire extinquisher handy.

Devvie,

Right rear is where the fuel tank, pump, and filter are. When I
got a fuel leak on my 81, it turned out to be one of the copper
washers on the check valve which is attached to the fuel pump.

Hey george, long time no see. Thanks for the info you guys, I will have to take a look at it. It actually would leak some fuel when I fill the tank at the station too which I found odd but it didn't leak much and I hadn't had a chance to look at it since I've only had the car about a week :P

If you did not already put a bucket or a catch of some sorts under the car to catch the gas. When I had a gas leak ( on another vehicle) the neighbors called the fire department and I got a fine.
