Well had a few hours before my first job today so started in on
making the 88 a open road race machine. started by pulling the back
seats and surrounds from the rear AC. just in this area I found 12
dollars in change. Got to love that, free lunch for a few days.
Found another 3 dollars under the Pass front seat when I pulled it.
The nasty stuff I found under all this just about made me sick. So
with the rear seats out and staying out my car is now a 2 seat coup.
grin!!
I will be building a custom rack where the seat were to hold a few
amps, the nav. GPS system, on board PC system and fire supresion
system. Hopefully this will come to even or maybe a little above the
level of the rear gargo area.
well time to clean up and head out to that job.
Have a great weekend every one.

thurston,
this might be a slippery slope! i pulled the rear seats on my 86... then the door trims and now the hatch trim - all to save weight. im also prepping a carbon fibre sunroof blank to go in, cant believe how little that weighs!

I am not all the worried about the weight, with all that in the car still does 160, well above the tech speed ofr any class I would enter in a long while. I am more interested in a better use for that space. God knows I dont want a amp of pc comming lose on a road course at 150. fear!!!!!

I've been trying to tell Thurston that he's on a slippery slope a la Hanson ..... but he will have to go there and find out for himself.
Removing rear ac to save weight but not stock seats is extravagant
Cutting stock seats for harnesses .... hmmm ....

Actually, the best place for the navigation unit is someone sitting in the passenger seat reading the course notes and keeping you safe and on time. Bill Ball is the only one I know that is brave or unbalanced enough to look down at his notes and still keep the car one the road at 160 mph +.
There are several 928's that go to the Nevada ORR's. Let us know if you will be there next year and everyone will help you out.

Thurston,
You don't need to do much to a 928S4 to only go 150 mph, just let off
the gas when you get there. Honestly, a well maintained 928 can
compete in the Grand Touring Division (115-125 mph avg) with just
5 pt harness, Z rated tires, and a fire extinguisher. For the first time
out, it probably best not to have any fancy stuff in the car. Just learn
the routine, get qualified, and experience the course. Also learn
what the car can do before you "fix" it. I ran in the 120-145 mph avg
classes with a stock engine (260 rwhp). I have also run the 145 mph
class solo, and will say, that's it's a lot more difficult to go fast and
hit your target time then with the help of a good navigator. Of course
a bad navigator would be worst.... (left 150 mph turn in 4 miles...
OOPS I meant left 115 mph turn in 1/4 mile....[just an example, not
one of the members of this forum, really...]). I now have an
experienced navigator and 2 gps, one for me and one for him when
he losses track of where we are.

I think my first shark (bought in LA, 1992) had been used in drive-bys on a regular basis. I found empty cartridges of three different dimensions under the drivers seat. I still have them.

Someone in the LA area recently found $550 in CASH under the seats of an S4. I won't mention any names in case the PO is reading. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The money was so old and yellow he almost threw the envelope away. DOH!
wouldn't have believed it if I had not seen it myself.
Scott
p.s. the best I can claim is $12 in change and a glovebox full of Trojans. Guess which I got more use out of???
