Default New Seats

Just wondering if there were any suggestions on seat replacements for my shark. I've been looking at the Cobra Misano's which are very nice but $$$ and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. I've searched through Recaro, Sparco, Courbeau and MOMO and they all have nice options but it's hard to get a real feel for them (or their comfort level) from a picture.
Thanks.

I tried a set of Sparco Turino (sp ?) at Sharktoberfest, always fancied the Milano's but talk about $$$. Anyway was v impressed with the look in the 928 and they fitted great, much better support than the standard seats.

My PO had installed some Corbeau seats and I've spent 4yrs and 50,000 miles sitting in. These are the "inexpensive" model but they are comfortable and have held up very well. It's a simple knit fabric which tends to pick up lint easily. For a cheap seat I've never been uncomfortable or fatigued and I've done some 6-8hr drives. They sit lower than the originals which is nice, plus they are lightweight. The worst problem I have is that the seat belt latch can be difficult to get at, but most wives need something to complain about...

I'm going to put GT2/GT3 seats in my car. I pulled my old seats out and the sports seats will fit with some modifications.

Default recaro pole position

ive had these recaros in mine for a few months now after the factory sports seats. i am completely happy with them as they are more supportive and slightly lower than stock with good head room. additionaly they only weigh about 7kg! they mount on sliders, to ajust seating angle allen head bolts need removing. also ive removed the rear seats to save weight.

I started a thread like this some time ago...and the long and short of it is that you need to see and sit in an example of the seat before you buy. Or at least be familar with the brand, etc. Car events will sometimes have a vendor's section with some on display. I sat in some Recaros at the vintage races in Portland this summer and was underwhelmed. I'll freely admit that I seldom miss a meal, but I'm not huge. I found that even the high line Recaros were too narrow for my 6-2, 240lb, 38" waist frame, just like the stock seat is. And judging by the wear pattern, it was too narrow for one of the PO's too.
Note- the Recaro seats I sat in were not like those pictured above. They were more traditional, with a reclining back rest.
I've fit in other seats with healthy side bolsters though, so I know they're out there. I've heard good about the Corbeau...plural...uhh, Corbeaux?
If you look on Ebay, you'll quickly find mutiple listings for inxepensive seats that look quite like the seats drnick has. I realize that durability expectations would be much lower, but I wonder if they're the same size as the seat they're a "clone" of?
an example
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33701

OK, so maybe they're not the same, now that I look again, but for a a hundred bucks...

FYI, my local NAPA store carries some of the Corbeau seats. Others might too?

I just purchased a pair of 944 seats on eBay - black leather, with heating and lumbar. The donor car had under 20,000 miles, and the seats are perfect, as if they had never been sat in. The cost was $875 per seat, which seemed steep when I made the winning bid; but, now that I have inspected and installed them, it strikes me as a real bargain. And, if I end up selling my old seats for a few hundred dollars, it will seem even better!

FYI, I just got a flyer from Corbeau. 11/1-11/8 they are offering 10% off plus free shipping for orders placed over the phone. If you want the phone number, pics of seats or a price list, PM me.

No affiliation.

www.subesports.com

I like my Cobra Seats - non-adjustable.

I got those cheaper sets in the group buy for the 78 - very nice but no lightweight and they move around a bit from mechanical tolerances.

I had a couple requests for information on the Corbeau seats, and I don't know how to post images in a PM, so I'm posting it here.

Again--- NO AFFILIATION. Just hoping I can help.

Images- go to www.corbeau.com
I've seen the CR1 and Legacy in person (both were cloth)- wasn't too impressed, especially w/ the trim, but then they also didn't include the optional lumbar support. The two I like are the TRS and GTSII.

Here's the flyer and price list.

I took advantage of the offer in the posted flyer and ordered a GTS II seat and mounting kit. He worked out the total and said it would be $693...I said I only wanted one and his reply was that the special offer was for two seats only and that fact was printed on the flyer.
Thankfully I was online and could look at the posted flyer. It wasn't there and I got the discount and the free shipping for a single seat. Should be here inside two weeks. They're is a back order for them from factory supposedly. It'll be a novelty having a comfortable seat...
