Stalling, rough running 928

I had some similar symptoms with my 86. When cold the engine would start and quickly stall. This went on unless I could catch the throttle manually with my foot. The problem pretty much went away when the car warmed up as long as it continuously ran, but would return if I had to restart it, even if warm (although not nearly as bas as a cold start).
I could hear a hissing coming from under the intake, so I partially removed the intake system and found gaping holes in two oil breather lines. I took the intake off and replaced the failed lines, and checked and tightened every other line I could find.
This took care of the stalling/rough idle issue for me.
Good Luck.
Bob.

This one runs pretty good when cold unless I try and floor it. If I do that is sputters and won't take the gas. Both times it stalled, it was at an idle after driving awhile. It's not missed a beat while moving.

After you check the easy to get to pieces, I would mention the idle control valve sticking. Search archives here for the application of WD40 through vacuum hose; this is a temporary fix, though.
