Mn. & W. Wi. 928 "Father & Son" Fun Run - Oct. 16
Hey Guys,
It's time fo the October Fun Run, sorry for the late notice. At our Sept. Run it was suggested that we do something with our sons, so this time the idea is to bring our sons along for a morning of twisty roads along the river, ending back in Prescott for lunch. Of course if you're sans son, bring whoever you wish!
"Father & Son Fun Run" - Prescott - Red Wing - Lake City
Date: Sat. Oct. 16
Meet: 10:00 am. @ the Holiday Station at US 61 & US 10, just north of Haystings MN and the river bridge.
Lunch: ~ 12:00 noon @ Courtyard Restaurant, Prescott WI.
e-mail me (rcsanders1@mmm.com) if you can make it. If you haven't made it yet, this is probably the last one for the season so don't miss out! - Ruf

Erik,
Well, since some of the guys actually suggested this, we're doing it instead. Plus it's only part of a day instead of a weekend trip, and the date is set by "domestic variables"... You know the drill. - Ruf

Hey all,
Glen is possibly in, but Steve H. and me are in so far... I know some more of you could use an excuse to run around on a Sat. morning. Let me know if you're up for it. - Ruf
PS- Update. Sounds like Glen is in for sure, so are Adam and Rick H, the real Father/Son team with their Chevy/SC powered 928S and their S4. Steve's GTS and my 82 gives us 5. Not bad for the end of the season! - Ruf

A Few Photos and the Story...
We had 5 sharks, 5 fathers and 5 sons for our Father/Son Fun Run. last weekend. Although the weather was cold, the cars were hot, especially the Chevy powered SC '82 Euro we had along. I mentioned this car in another post, simply because it was so impressive in my opinion. One thing for sure, it got all the attention whenever we stopped.
We all hooked up just outside Hastings and had some breakfast and coffee. At the same time a Corvette club was hooking up there too, so that made for very interesting comments and discussion. It was great to see so many Vettes, and they seemed to appreciate our cars as well. While putting gas in mine, one guy said that he felt 928s were the best car Porsche ever built. Must the that tranny in the back of his C5 that gave him an appreciation for them.
We headed into Wi, on WI 35. This road is famous for two thing. Fantastic curves, hills and a view of the river, and cops. Wi. is notorious for it''s troopers and you always take your lic. in you hand when pushing it there. But lucky for us, we saw none. The road was a little crowded at first, but getting around some traffic opened it up .
Crossing back into Mn, we went through Red Wing and caught Co. 5. Another mainstay in that area. Always fun and with 5 sharks of various abilities, the driving was interesting to say the least. On this road, the action really pointed out that it's not the motor so much as the chassis that makes our cars what they are, hence my personal questions about Chevy powered 928s.
Once we pulled into Lake City, we went down US61 to get onto Co. 4 and Co 10. Wow, this was a treat because it has just been repaved Perfectly smooth road allowing you to really feel that rubber working, or not if you have none. This was the perfect place to play and even the more conservative of us got to the front.
Coming back up US61 we stopped for a photo shoot. My camera was full so no shots from me. Hopefully the rest of the crew will send their photos so we can post them here. These are a few we have so far. A couple are actually from our Fun Run in Sept. when it was sunny.
Back .on the road to WI 35 again back to Prescott, we all pulled in to town and had lunch or 10. It was the prefect start to a nice weekend, and everyone felt we could squeeze in one more before winter takes hold. As always, watch this space and,

but it will probably be short notice. Thanks to everyone for getting together and send your pics so we can show them off! - Ruf

Nice pictures. Sorry I missed out. My son has told everyone at his Middle School that the shark is his next year... I really didn't wanna call him out in front of all his lil' friends but I did explain later that my 928s was too much of a car for him. Hell if I'd had this car 20 years ago I know I wouldn't be here today. Can I get an AMEN? Thanx Rufus. Maybe catch you guys on my next summer trip to Ft. McCoy, WI (Sparta).

Finally, Some More Photos...
Hey Glen & Adam, it's great to see how kids respond to that "Porsche Lifestyle". Have you seen the new Porsche add where the 10 yr. old kid rides his bike to the Porsche dealer to see the new 997, and then tells the salesman that he'll be back in about 20 yrs? They know who their customer base is.
Here, finally are more photos from that weekend, thanks to Rick & Adam H. Enjoy. - Ruf
