Default Chroming Plastic

Does anyone know a place where you can get plastic parts chrome painted...if that is actually the process? I have tried the off the shelf paints at the auto stores and they are nothing more than bright silver....more aluminum looking.

Yes, Keith, plastic vacuum metalizing is available. It actually uses aluminum but shines like chrome, unlike the paints you found. The aluminum is vaporized in a vacuum and deposits as a thin layer on the plastic, then is topcoated to preserve the shine. I googled a service in your area:

Whoa...Jim, you're freaking me out! You may be on to something there. Doesn't chrome make you slip through the atmosphere quicker?

Thanks Bill! I will contact them.

Keith, while you check into that place for the chroming of your parts, find out if they do the simulated aluminum..titanium...brushed steel etc etc coatings on plastics that are common in todays newer cars.

Im still trying to figure out what your "chroming" on the GTS???hmmmm
