Your 1990 did not come with an oil cooler built into the radiator and your 1989 will need one.

Can't he mount an external oil cooler like the '90 has on his '89?

Rather than trying to adapt a radiator to your car, why not go to a good rad shop and have them build one?
I had one done for mine - 3" thick core, bigger oil coolers, etc, for under $400. (sorry Mark)

I posted a 78 radiator that is just plugged on the "Free" thread. There are pics on my site. I don't think you could mount the later fan shroud to it without some work. But it has the oil heat exchanger. It's getting tossed this weekend if nobody wants it. It would probably cost you $100-125 to have it shipped and rodded out. I can ship it in the box my replacement came in.

Going... going...

Stick with the '89 setup. My 90 with the low mounted oil cooler takes a lot of abuse. The mounting holes have hogged out a lot from hitting stuff. Yes, there's a shroud around the front, and no I didn't do it, it PO did. However, it looks like it'll get whacked by just about any 2X4, or tire chunk that's run over on the highway.
