Default Battery Box Pics

Does anyone have any pics of their battery box/compartment they can post? I need to determine if mine is stock - it appears to have been changed out. Pics from above and below would be welcome.

I believe the 79s were different. Mine is classified as a 1980, but has a '79 build date, so pics of either would help me determine what I have - it does have rust so I'll probably end up having to replace it.

Thanks

Ken,

I just put up a variety of pics from my 78 on this page. I don't know whether this will be any help, since I've been told this setup is unique to the 78s.

If you are going to change the battery box, put a s3 or s4 one in. This will allow you to run a true duel exhaust without the crimping near the crossmember of the earlier models. I have done this mod, it took about two days to complete.

Lovely site Sharkskin, lots of very useful pics. Now I know how the early battery boxes were fitted - havent seen that before.
One question - why couldnt you have used the later style Bosch fan in front of the condenser ? These seem fairly common - I got a spare off an MB of some sort, identical in every way. These are the thinner, bigger diameter units.

Thanks jp.... it's really turning into quite an encyclopedia!

I didn't go with the later Bosch fan because the most optimistic estimate I've heard regarding the output of that unit is about 500CFM less than the unit I installed.

When I solve a problem I like to solve it for good wherever possible!
