Question Wheels...

Hello to all 928 lovers and experts,
I have 928S4 (1987 Auto). I like to upgrade my wheels to 17" front and 18" rear. If I install 17" wheel front and 18" wheel rear, what kind of side effects do I get?

First question......why? Effects?.......it would look weird.......my opinion only.

To answer the question......I don't see any operational problems at all.

Chevy C5 - different size wheels front to rear
Chrysler Prowler - same

Looks good on both.

My theory as to why Chevy did this with the Corvette? To keep people from installing the rear wheels on the front?

From what I've read, it was done for cosmetic reasons. Personally, I'd rather have the same diameter rim all around.

no differences. both will have close diameters. (with in 1/8")

so, the only real diff, is the looks. ive noticed that the small sidewall of the 18" rim when running 30 series tires is more sensitive to pressure than my 35 series 17" racng tires in the rear. fronts are the same.

Another item about those 'Vette rims that endeared owners to the factory(not) is that they were directional as well, meaning every corner was different. At least you never have to rotate them...

Go 18" front and back and wide as you can go. Check out my "NOT" Raising Rear. Help removing spacers and adding new studs?

I have done it. 225 45 17 on the nose 275 35 18 on the rear. I had 18s on the nose and the offset was 52 with an 8.5 inch wheel. There was more bump steer than I was willing to accept. I went back to a 65 offset 7.5 inch wide 17.

Excelent fit all around. BTW 275 40 18 is what the C5 runs. Saw one this past weekend.
