Default What is this logo?

In my search for stock wheels for my '89 928 S4, I have often encountered rims that have a stylized SM over a triangle logo cast in raised letters. Are these aftermarket reproductions or are they a factory authorized "original equipment" version?

Although I could not tell what this logo exactly means, in my experience all 944/928 wheels have it.

For example, this is a magnesium rim of a 944 Turbo Cup during restoration and it also has this logo :

Some 944s' A-arms also have this sign :

SM was/is probably a Porsche supplier ...
