It does not look like a bad car to buy, if you can repaint it, or deal with the stripes.
Also if you can get a good deal...
As someone mentioned, most of the engine "upgrades" were probably repairs.
The interior looks pretty cool, and the engine looks clean.
I think the painted gills are cheesy, but I have considered
real gills, such as on the early Z3s... But not painted...
The whole ad was pretty funny to read though.
It reminds me of how I used to think in high school.
But how old is this guy? 6 kids?
It's sad he has such a distorted view of his own car,
just to make up for his own insecurities... It's pretty weird...

I'm familiar with this car. I saw it undergoing all of its updates and paint schemes.
The work was done by Garrity and Dave @ Motorsport in SLC. Both know 928s in and out. The guy only owned the car long enough to have the work done. Want more information on the car? Call Motorsport @ 801-487-6733.
From what I saw, the car looked sweet (in the engine compartment) when it was done, and it needed the work: it was pretty rough when it came into the shop. He apparently got a good deal on it and knew what it needed when he bought it.
Garrity tried to talk the guy out of the paint theme but was unsuccessful.
BTW, no affiliation.

This helps us all triangulate on exactly what it means to be a "sean car". Maybe tantamount to being a "richard head"...............

Like I said, based on the mechanical work that went into it, it should be a pretty sweet ride for someone.
Plus, if you live someplace like Vegas where everything is extreme, the paintwork won't seem too obtrusive.

Yeah, since Iwanna dragged Motorsport's name into this I have to speak in their defense. I too have seen this car being worked on by my shop and have tried to politely contain my disgust. This is an example of bad taste and nothing less. Whatever Garrity and Dave have done I am sure is spot on in terms of quality. This is a Sean car not a motorsport car.

Ferris-
dragged is too harsh and I apologize. You are doing the right thing to help rennlisters identify a good buy and make an informed decision. No hard feelings and I will try not to be so quick with my keyboard!

As I noted before, they tried to talk the guy out of the paint job to no avail.
I agree w/ bcdavis, paint it and it becomes a really great car.
By the way Steve- I was @ Motorsport yesterday to viddie the Koenig car and saw that you are having some major work done. I'd love to see the car when it's done!
BTW, Koenig = PUKE! Another Vegas-friendly car.

Thanks, I don't think I ever diparaged the work they did. In fact, my intention was quite the contrary.

Selling this car now for a down payment on land and planning on BUYING another 928 next year would seem to me to be a VERY expensive short term "loan". Piling money on a car is rarely an investment. When personalizing and making unique it can then be hard to find someone who shares your vision.

yeah Steve, lighten up!!! Ya know, when I first saw that car I fell in love with the color combo, especially the interior. And your right, Garrity and Dave pulled the manifold and really "cleaned" the engine up. I was drooling myself until the stripes and gills went on, and that is just cosmetic.
I like the Koenig for its uniqueness, but agree with you otherwise. But if I had been given the opportunity to steal it at some auction like the current owner, I would have in a heartbeat!
You should have plenty of time to keep checking out my car, there is a lot more to be done.
