Nope.

Four years, and I still have the same install on my '81, with one improvement - I ran a bead of black silicone around the edge to stop wind noise.

Making vacuum molds was too much for me.

Nice Ken I like. Is the plastic panel DOT approved?

Was going to ask if a metallic film coating would help reduce solar gain and then I noticed the original posting dates.

A nice Porken 'Moonroof' and a Paul Champagne leather sunblocker underneath. Hmmmm!

Wonder if a thin strip of felt around the edges of the plastic panel like the stock panel would squelch wind noise.

Phenomenal! I've been wanting to do something like this for years (but have no talent)! Good job!

Have you tried alka seltzer for your wind noise?

holy flashbacks... saw red ufo there and thought I'd seen a resurection, hahaha

I think http://www.spektrproducts.com/ would do one for us, if we had a donor car for them to mess with for a day or so.

Mine is removed in the track car. With a helmet on, you need it!

It was out of my (limited) skillset to make one that fit well. There are multiple curves - it must have been a pain designing the sunroof to fit the original roof - which I don't think was designed with a sunroof in mind.

My black '86.5 has had the sunroof removed (welded in panel) so I have no reason to learn.

It would be nice to have a lightweight one that would replace the stock lid. Aluminum, maybe.

The stock lid is several parts.

To reduce the weight and not have to attempt to recreate the compound curves - as you suggest Ken, they are complex - what I did was disassemble the shell of the sunroof itself, and then weld it back in. If you remove the frame, it is still strong in strength when in tensile with the rest of the roof.

Its also about a third of the weight. With removing all of the other stuff from the roof, I think about 20 pounds can be removed.

When I had my 924S..first step into Porsche way back when....glass/plexi panels were available for those cars. Great idea for the 928- the small size and aft location of the factory unit render it fairly useless in my opinion (except for adding items to the to-do list..). Nicole will need to plan another sunblock panel though! Seriously- resistance to scuffing, permanence of weather seal and heat transmission are issues I'd like to hear more about. Definitely digging it though.
Maybe I should look into getting one retrofit into the no-sunroof EUro?

I kid...
