Default Which AFMs do I have?

I have two AFMs.

I'm continueing working through trouble shooting my lack of power problem.

As a check, I pulled the AFM and then starting testing it according to the WSMs. It didn't match, so I pulled out my other AFM.

Both AFMs that I own match all of the ohm reading for the "post 042" AFMs, except the 6-27 reading. The tempreture reading.

My question is were is the date marking, and which date marking works with which year car?

Finaly, does anyone know if the tempreture sensor increases or decreases resistance with an increase in tempreture?

(I had this figured out at one time, but I forgot to write it down, and since have forgotten the information.)

What is the Bosch number? I have a pdf at home with a list of them all. IIRC, ALL 928 LH injection us the same AFM, right through to the end of life. Same Bosch number as some bmw M5s in mid 80s. L-jet, dont know - which is yours? L-jet has the curved housing where the door swings inside.

Deffently L-jet.

There are two makes of the L-jet AFMs.

And I don't know which one I have.

There are several numbers on the AFMs. Only one is the same. The rest are diffrent, if I can remember.

VU,

All of the thermistors used on the 928 (and 99.9% of all cars) are NTC - Negative Temperature Coefficient. There are few apps that use PTC thermistors - and they usually use them for an overheat safety shutoff.

NTC = Temp goes up, resistance goes down. Make sense?

All right. That might explain a few things. The air temp was a bit over 68 degress, so the resistance should be less than 3 k-ohms. Which was where I was. Good.

And that removes the erronous reading, and makes it clear, I've got the latter of the two types.

Now to just figure out where the stupid number that is suppost to tell me such is.

VU,

Should be some numbering cast into the 'waffle' plate, but that's just a manufcture date, IIRC. There's also what appears to be a p/n 1 285 501 which does not fit with Bosch's normal p/n scheme - ie, FI stuff is 0 280 xxx xxx.

Look inside the cast in round end of the AFM (where the air goes 'out'). Holding that entrance facing you, with the black plastic cover at 12:00 look inside about 1 inch and to the right on the 'floor of the unit. You should see a 3 digit code, like 041. Don't recall for sure (John Speake?), but that *should* be the number that is referenced in the WSMs. BTW, the one I'm holding right now is an 041, with a manufacture date of 04/97. Go figger.

Viribus,
#928 606 121 01 is the '80 AFM, with version 02 noted for '81-'84: My spare is a Bosch # 0 280 203 015, so it may be the 02 version. Are these the #'s you are looking for?
BTW, does anyone know if the 01 and 02 versions are interchangable? ie., will the 02 also work in the MY '80?
