What is the best method to resecure loose trunk trim?
Hi,
The leather panels in the trunk of the car, just under the rear quarter windows, have come loose and are bulging upward.
I know there's a galaxy of adhesives I could use, or mechanical means of fastening that would work. I would be interested in knowing what my fellow obsessive-compulsives on the board would use by preference, however.
thanks
Thaddeus

That's generally warpage of the underlying panel combined with drying/shrinkage of the leather. Although in St. Paul you could just be so lucky, without the year-round frying sun that we get out here that ruins shark interiors with aplomb, for the material to have only become separated (however, not likely).
The best remedy is to pull them out and reaffix the leather properly, because it wraps around to the underside of the panel where it is stapled in place.
While mine are out, I've been regularly feeding the leather with conditioner to soften it back up for when I do get around to reaffixing it.
As for adhesives, I'm sure others will have better suggestions than myself.
