Um, you don't need twin turbos eighter.

Or for that matter, you don't need a 220 hp motor. A 50 hp Civic is about all you need. And even then, you can probably get away with an old 30 hp VW Beetle.

5l n/a is good, TT 5l is better, TT on a 6l is insane.

The next problem would probably the the transmittion...

And insane is best, right?

There's a TT S4 in the PACwest somehwere. Should probably call it "sasquatch" as i only ever hear of it. Never seen a pic or proof that it exists.

I thought the Forum" mag was doing a write up on it???
Adam, Is there a TT S4 out there?

I have a 1986.5 928 engine and just wanted to ask on this are you positive that the stock pistons are forged?

I am planning on installing this engine into a 1980 931 and using a 928 tt and tranny to move the engine futher ahead and relocating the rad into the back of the car, and possibly a larger rad for cooling, I am planning on twin turboing the engine at the same time, I would be fabbing up custom equal length headers, I will be running Megaultrasquirt as my engine management, it has the ablility to adapt knock sensors and it does control timing, the boost however I am going to be having on a boost controller having the "stock" boost set to only 5 PSI so I am still street legal as they only allow 450crank horse up here, and on the second setting I would be upping it, not sure exactly how high yet but it will be a fair amount. but I want to have forged pistons in it and if the factory ones are forged that means that i wont have to try and find aftermarket or 951 pistons.

on the subject though, if you do turbo it, I recommend about a 9.3-9.5:1 cr and then you should be able to run 1 bar of boost if you use very efficent IC

I'm referring to the '86 951, not the 928 - the first 944 turbos had forged pistons, 87 and on went to cast; for this reason, the '86 is considered better for tuning.

Excuse, maybe it is a stupid question, but who says that you need to put the turbos in the engine compartment? Maybe you could put somewhere near the clutch?

Mulik, you need short pipe lengths. You also want the tubes for the intake to stay away from the tubes for the exauste, if possible.

The shorter the better. If you put the turbo in the clutch area the exaust pipe lengths are pretty short, but how do you run the plumbing for the compressor side of the turbo, w/o getting into long plumbing, and w/o brushing it up aginst the exauste plumbing. This is expecaly the case if you try to put an aftercooler on the engine.

How did I miss this post? I have done the conversion and have the ability to reproduce the kit without too much difficulty should anybody be intertested. If you think you are up to it, have at it and tell your wife you will be spending the next 12 weeks in the garage and see how that goes over. My setup works pretty well and it all fits into the chassis...with a little patience I might add.

Now who wants to see pictures?...I'm reluctant to post them...I have spent a lot of time on my setup and I don't want it copied.

For those who want a kit, I can provide the whole shebang.

Yes, all early 928s have cast pistons. The cast piston IS the weak link in the 928s engine.
