Default LSD & Drivetrain swap Qs

1) Will the 2.75 work in our 4spd auto boxes? How about with/without an early LSD?

2) Even though the pre-'85 manuals have junk synchros, how sturdy are they in terms of quality and power handling? Would that work in a conversion to an S4?

Thanks!

will not work . Automatic and 5 speed ring and pinions are completely different , limited slips are the same 78-82 or 83-89 and fit either auto or 5 speed . Manual transmissions got stronger better with each new version. The early 5 speed with Porsche syncros works well and is strong just not as smooth as the Borg Warner style syncro used in 85 and newer boxes .
