Ron
Evidently I gave you bad info. My apologies, it was from (poor) memory, my car is 5000km away. Seems you're committed to pulling off the intake. Plenty of experts to advise you here. Luck, and please keep us posted as the job progresses.

Ernest & Steve . . Joe gave me a good idea, what better place to get a good powder coating place than a Harley shop. There is one right by my work. I'll stop in tomorrow and find out. As far as the tear down, Saturday 8/21 looks good for me. Just let me know what you want to eat & drink so I can have it on-hand. Thanks again fellas My # (972)202-9033

The one tip on powder coating, its more expensive to get the stuff stripped than painted ..... well that was my experience anyway. Also make sure the de-gas before they paint.

I was lucky, found a local place that have a good sideline in hot rod stuff.

Chris . . The intake is peeling, so i will just pick it clean. As far as the covers, once I get them off I will see what's involved. Hopefully it will come out as nice as yours.

Dont bother to pick at the intake since they'll have to media blast it anyway and they'll have to bake it before it's coated. I vote for the Full Monte at one time, the intake AND WP timing belt. The tear down should only take a day. Whatever you do, order all the stuff at one time. I vote for barbecue and diet 7up.
You'll need to drain the coolant and block and get her up on ramps/stands before we start and, if possible, soak all the water pump bolts in penertating oil after you remove the belt covers.

Yeah the full Monty all the way. Then you don't have to worry about it for years. After that let the miles of smiles begin .

We're on! Do you need any tools? Are you going to be able to get prepped before we get there? I've put the word out on the DFW 928 board and we'll see who salutes.
Gimme a call.

Yesterday Ernest & I replaced the TB & WP. Not such a bad job. Now we have to put it together. During the process, I broke a water pump bolt. I got lucky as it snapped off close to the head. With a pair of vise grips I managed to turn it out. Whew. . . That was close. I thought it was time to drill & tap. Then . . My brother will appreciate this . . I was cutting a plastic thingy out of some part and had the part resting against my chest while I was using a carpet razor knife with the hooked end & blip . . I pulled it to slice it and it went right across my chest. Ernies eyes almost popped out of his head as he saw my tee shirt was split. I pulled up my shirt and saw I only had a scratch. Another BIG whew. We laughed as we both new that could have meant a trip to the hosiptal. I got real lucky there. So at this point we have the TB & WP on. I'm going out to the garage to put some stuff on the car. Ernie, thank you for your help. You make this job alot easier than it probably is. You rock dude!
