Default 1978 928 , Should I dare?

Hi all,
I have been watching this forum for a while doing research on 928's and though it might be a good place to ask the following.

I have come across an opportunity to buy the following

1978
928
78,000
New/rebuilt engine
5-speed
tan interior
metallic blue exterior
never driven in rain

I know 78 is not a desireable year but this sounds like a nice example.

My question...what is a fair price for this car based on the limited info supplied? 4k? 5k? something around there? Thanks in advance for any consideration..

Nothing wrong with a 78. Depending on how good the rebuild is, and whatever else may be wrong with it, 4-5K sounds like a great deal. Check my site for some of the things that may need doing... Mine had 62K on it when I bought it for $4200. I'm into it for about 8K, not counting TB, Water pump, cam tower re-seal & CIS rebuild.

I desire 78s...
what paperwork comes with the car? RECORDS RECORDS RECORDS
is it a Euro of US spec?
how is the interior? dash or pod cracked? seats worn or torn?
op art or leather/leatherette?
is everything original and there? ie radio, tools, original sticker?
HAVE YOU HAD A PPI DONE?

until you answer these you can't guess what a vehicle is worth, and even then it's only worth what YOU are willing to pay for it

5K if it is real sweet. Why would they have to rebuild the engine? These engines last for 200,000+ miles without issue. It is a non-interference issue so even if the belt broke that shouldn't cause a problem. I'd definately want more info. A PPI would settle a lot of questions. Just my .02 worth.

Regards,
