90 GT for $6250
I just missed a 1990 GT here in Dallas that sold for $6250. Red with tan interior and black piping. Clean carfax and 127K miles.
A little ruff around the edges but nothing 2/3 grand and some TLC would have taken care of.
Anyone on the list get the bargain?

Roger,
Holy CRAP...what a find. I hope some "ricer" or "redneck" didn't get it. If so, be sure to hunt them down and make contact so that once the car is partly or nearly destroyed, you can salvage it.
Sorry to hear you missed such a deal.

Did you get to examine the car closely? 2-3 grand could easily be 10-12 grand in repairs. Doesn't take much. Bad tranny, bad main bearing or hole, a few broken parts here and there. Don't dwell on this - it could have ended up being a nightmare.

I wasn't planning on using the bottom end if I bought it, unless it was in good shape. My only concern was its authenticity and the transmission condition. Interior would go (track vehicle), suspension would be overhauled, etc. etc.

Mark,
Same one!
Seemed to run well - clutch felt OK and gears selected OK. As it was sold I could not drive it.
Unless someone bought it on the board I guess we will never know.

Hi all, I was in Dallas yesterday and called the gentleman and he said "you're number four on the list", so apparently it is not sold; he said he'd seen wide fluctuations in the oil pressure reading and had changed the sensor to see if he could confirm whether there's really a problem. So, he seems to still be fiddling with it before unloading it.
His attitude seemed pretty negative. He said it was traded in a Honda dealer, and he bought it cheap and just wanted to get rid of it. I wonder if anyone's told him what GT is, how many were imported to the US, etc.?

The new owner of this 1990 928GTalso owns
1984 Ferrari Mondial Cabrio
1973 Matra Bagheera S1
1970 Lamborghini Espada S1
1963 Studebaker Avanti R2
1961 VW bug oval window
1937 Cord Beverly
He turned up on the Landsharkoz website this morning this is what he got.
"1990 GT 5speed with the correct M28.47-85xxxxx engine and G2855 trans.
It also has the option code (474)for the sport suspension, the twin
tailpipes, wide rims, shorty shifter and the correct tach with 6600RPM
redline. It is the fourth from the last made in 1990. In short, the
real deal, Uh-huh. Now the best part. I just paid $6000USD (not
Kroners, Sterling, Yaun, or some other currency), that's 6000USD!!! It
runs, drives, shifts, AC blows cold-ish, radio works, most of the
electricals work, but needs some TLC. The interior is complete with
the drivers seat thrashed and the carpet shrinking from sitting
outside in Texas USA(durn hot). The paint is Guards red, tan and black
interior, and will need a complete paint job soon due to some road
rash and a ding in the pass door."

Congrats to him, he bought the ideal car for me! I was thinking it would be great to delve into a track car project with a GT top end, tranny, brakes, etc. then repaint it myself, do some bodywork, add a stroker to the GT top end, strip out the wrecked interior, and drive the hell out of it! I'll just try to tell myself the transmission was in horrible shape so I didn't need it anyway (even though it sounds like it was fine). The search continues....
