Default Integra HVAC Controls in center console

I had mentioned in a previous post that I was plannig on installing an Acura Integra HVAC system in the car. I've attached a couple of photos to give you an idea what it will look like. This is just a rough fit - the slats from the vent are missing. Of course it will all be filled and finished - that will be the easy part - the plumbing and electricals will be the hard/fun part.

Ken,

Looks like a neat project. Were you planning on using the whole Acura controller assembly, or just using the switches, using them to control the existing Behr unit?

Integration will be boatloads easier doing the latter v. doing the former.

Are you doing this for a custom look, or just don't like the 70's looking controller that's already in there?

I'm curious to see how this turns out. I spent some time earlier this year scoping out HVAC units for one that would be a good match for the 928. Those controls really date the car's interior. I'm in the midst of several other projects, but I would like to return to this at some point in the future.

Good Luck!!

Was there something wrong with your AC controller?

Couple reasons why I went this way - my blower and core were shot anyway; I wanted to update the interior look since I am "refreshing" the exterior with the Jacquemond kit. The interior is going to be pretty custom. I have a complete Integra HVAC assembly, so I will be changing all of that out. It may not work, but what the hell, I'll give it a shot.

I don't see why they look any cheaper than the sliders in the 928...

It looks OK - pretty good fit. Do the function buttons control vacuum or are they electrical switches?

The function buttons are electrical.

I agree with Esprit, they don't look any cheaper than what I've got at the moment - IMO a lot better actually - but thanks for the comments

Good luck... just be sure and document how you actually make the controller control the HVAC! I consider the climate control mechanism on the 928 unnecessarily complex....

I will be interested to see how you use the electrical switches to control vacuum. The OEM function slider connects or closes off combinations of vacuum lines.

I think it looks different, but not better(just as old looking). If your looking to "update", check out Jager products. Those will update your car.
