Default It's getting there, but...

OH!!!! My '88 S4 is so close to being perfect! BUT!........

(how many of you have heard that come out of a 928 owners mouth?)

Now I have a noise coming from the (left rear) wheel from about 20mph up. I'm pretty sure it's a wheel bearing, that's what it sounds like anyway. It goes "wuh..wuh..wuh..wuh" and increases in speed as the car increases in speed. Is this pretty common? What's it cost to fix? Is it maybe something else that I don't know about? By the way, my AC is now blowing 38 degrees farenheit at the vents so I am VERY happy about that!
Beyond this wheel bearing(?) thing, I've just got a VERY few cosmetic things to gather and I'll be riding pretty tall!

Hey Dennis Wilson! Looks like I might make Sharks in the Ozarks after all. When is it? and where?

I'll guess tires. Swap left/right rears and see if the sound follows. If the tires are directional, they won't be hurt by a test drive.

Well, the rear tires are new. I don't know if the sound was there before the tire swap, but that would sure be good it it WAS the tires. I'll look into that. Thanks! If it is a wheel bearing, what a ballpark figure of the cost of fixing that?

No idea on the cost. The bearing is cheap, the cost will be in the labor.
