I would second the A/T flex plate discussion - also would be interested in learning more about Torque Tube preventative maintenance and care.

Competition? If I could, I'd go to every 928 event each year and should come pretty close to it this year.

This year's Frenzy is closer to Sharktoberfest than I would care to have it, but there were too many scheduling obstacles for the Chairman to overcome and still associate with a track evet. The Frenzy rarely has more than a handfull of West Coat 928ers, so I like to look at it as the more events out there, the better chance that everyone can experience the fun.

It's interesting that in a private email exchange, the question of "competition" among the various events was raised. We watch to see what others do successfully, of course. We try not to make the same mistakes this year that we did last year. We try to learn by education at least as much as by experience, and hope that others do the same. It raises the level of all events that way, and it's the participants that really benefit.

Please keep up the suggestions! We are all ears!

I was there when the SoCal928 Group was conceived. A moving experience...

Capt'n Earl did aTT flexplate presentation at Frenzy 5. Perhaps it's time to hear what has been learned in that time from those that have done the locktite fix.

Competition?

When it comes to 'rounds of competative drinking', as Jim Bailey puts it, there is no competition. We East coasters have a few secret weapons, namely Falkenberg, Eiffert and one Evan Henderson.

So, Dr. Bob, I'd like to order up some nice sunny SOCAL weather for the Sharktoberfest. Evan and I have plans to attend this year. Couldn't make it last year on account that it was my GF's B-day. This year I bought her a horse so she won't notice I'm AWOL.

Does Anderson plan on any type of driving event? I feel the need to abuse some poor rental car.

Scott

Looks like the GB team needs to teach you boys a thing or two.

Don't go blaming Jeannie now. I am kinda partial to those "Agent Orange" drinks that John K. makes, and they go down easy.

In my limited experience wiuth these so-called "competitions", the biggest challenge is identifying what "winning" actually means. I've sacrificed over eleven brain cells to these events, so I don't really think of that as winning. Come to think of it, with those cells lost and gone forever, I don't think about much anymore.

So, Dr. Bob, I'd like to order up some nice sunny SOCAL weather for the Sharktoberfest. Evan and I have plans to attend this year. Couldn't make it last year on account that it was my GF's B-day. This year I bought her a horse so she won't notice I'm AWOL.
We have an abundance of sunny weather that time of year. In fact, in the long and distinguished history of Sharktoberfest, we have only had sunny perfect weather. October is a time for warm dry Santa Ana days, with a desert wind blowing down towards the coast. Bring sun-block and drink plenty of water. East-coast swamp rats, used to heat and humidity in the summer, will thoroughly enjoy the weather here. I moved here from the east coast to escape that summer heat and humidity, and settled close to the beach for just about perfect climate. Come share it!

Does Anderson plan on any type of driving event? I feel the need to abuse some poor rental car.
If last year's event is held up as an example, you'll need to do a lot of abusing to get anywhere close to the current standard. The otherwise-honorable John V dragged some poor Chevy something through the Santa Monica mountains. I guess the good part is that the Tuna Canyon Road sections were repaved with new rubber.

Our schedule shows a two-hour driving event on Saturday afternoon, followed by a hotel break and a dinner near the hotel. Dan and Keith have named the drive 'Shark Attack', so you may want to search out just the right rental car to fit in. Hint: walk past the mini-vans...

On Sunday morning we will caravan to the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, where we will have the run of the place including, I hear, a private tour of the 'vault', where a huge collection of not-on-display-yet goodies are stored. Plan your return flights for Monday morning so you don't miss this part of the event!

For others planning on attending--

There's info posted here on Rennlist for the event, currently topped by Randy (Thanks!) and easy to find. There's an outline schedule for both days.

-----

Don't be afraid to attend multiple Shark events! They only get better!

scotty,
tentative yes at present. registered and accepted. hotel reservation in. may need some help getting the car finished though. it will definitely be running unproven at the very least.
electromotive and harnesses need to be swapped out. blower being rebuilt and reconfigured and then needs to be reinstalled. blower to intercooler plumbing needs to be done. wing mounts need to be reengineered. nothing we can't knock out in a good weekend.
of course then the car needsa to be tuned....

Looks like it's going to be at a Holiday Inn near Dulles. Same as where Frenzy 5 was held. Very close to Curry's where the tech sessions and Dyno runs will occur on Saturday (they have a split shop so both can happen at once). The Frenzy Chairman Larry Gunter is in negotiations now last I heard. Special rate, Reception and Dinner as usuall.
