Here's an 84 Euro S where PO used Shell Rotella which is a popular 928 choice. Oldest sample is Rotella with the rest bring Driven DT50
Here's a 944 S2 where PO used Valvoline VR1, another popular oil. Driven DT50 better than that too
I use it in both my 928s, my 914, and a wakeboat.

I thought Rotella only went up to a 40 weight. do they offer 50?

Looks like you're correct based on the current offerings, but think a few years ago that was different, but maybe not

as far as I recall it has always been 40, or at least going back into the early 90s when I was discussing it with friends for use in our motorcycles.
