Dave: Are we going to get a demo on Sunday? Just kidding...
Yes, I'm always happy when I can fix something myself. I'm not afraid of interior fixes, and even have prepped a car for painting. But with the mechanics I am not very confident - I always fear I get stuck (as i did) and won't be able to finish the job. Or something might come apart and I can't see how it belongs together, or I don't know how tight to tighten things up, etc.
But I can't tell you how happy I was today being able to drive and enjoy it without that nasty noise! Now it just needs an Italian tune-up... LOL!

That could be a source of noise/rattle.

Hey, we all worry about booby-trapped spring-loaded assemblies that are designed to launch small parts into the black hole we never knew we had in the garage.... Or letting the magic smoke out of an electrical component. You know that electronics run on magic smoke, right? Once you let the smoke out they quit working...
And you weren't exactly stuck... you could have diverted your attention to roadworthiness for 5 minutes at any stage of the process and driven that car if necessary.
Enjoy the Italian Tune-up! One of the best parts of shark ownership IMHO...

What's an Italian Tune Up? I want one. Where can I get one? Is it vulgar? I'll take two, then.
Don't go to Dave's or your sunroof will self destruct right before your eyes. His car doesn't like sunroofs 'cause it doesn't have one. Must be the reason.

Italian tune-up: Go on the autostrada and put the pedal to the metal... I learned the expression from Dennis Kao, but I have witnessed this live a few times when I was younger and travelled to Italy. Oh the good old days when I did not have to worry about 928 repairs, bills and other stuff, and could hop in my Renault Fuego and drive to Northern Italy in little over 4 hours... I miss Lago Maggiore!!!

Hey, don't go blaming my shark now... it's got nothing against your young 'un. After all, you're the one who wanted to open your sunroof and show me how the hardware you had just installed wasn't quite right...
