Dude,

Buy it, steal it, beg for it, pray for it but do what you must to obtain it. Weissach is a rare model. Does it have the luggage? If you don't buy it give me the number. I'll call my brother again if he is still taking my calls.

If I don't buy it, I'll help someone else get it. Get it roadworthy- brake pads (if needed) and fluids, oil change and drive it home to where ever. I want it to get to a good home whether it's mine or not.

I think it's too cheap. You get what you pay for, so you should be looking for a more expensive example... Just kidding!

It sounds like a steal! Gosh, what are you waiting for?

I'm in line after tuk_928!. Buy the thing. Hell it is worth every penny of that price even if it doesn't run or drive.

Regards,

Geoff

Got it checked out; found that the rack is tired, and upper control arms are worn in addition to the things I knew from before. Also still has original aluminum ball joints. Rough around the edges, but for a 22 year old car, I'm impressed. TB/WP is 2 years and 13k old w/ receipt from a known shop.

If the interior was junk, the original finish on the wheels was bad and it was not original paint, then I wouldn't do it. As is, a lot of deferred maintenance on the small things (which add up real fast). I'm going to try to do as much of the work myself, and I have the S4 to drive in the meantime.

Drove 100 miles in it, and it was great!!! Engine strong, smooth and tranny does what it's supposed to. Neglected some, but unmolested.

plus, he came down on the price some more which doesn't suck.

I was driving the car back to the owner after the ppi, and it was hard not to like it. The owner was surprized when I explained all of the things that needed maintenance, and the labor/cost of each. We talked money later on the phone, and $2800 for what it is (a good running/shifting 928 that doesn't need a TB/WP...and a Weissach with extremely good leather) plus the shop manuals complete. I couldn't say no. I also couldn't bear thinking that this car would still be sitting outside with no car cover, no tlc and no love. Very wrong, possible jailtime???
If I ever do sell it, I might not even lose money.

When I clean it up, I'll post some pics. It's not going to suck.

Jane told me tonight that she's got to get her name off of the New England 928 mailing list. Seems all these S4s are coming up for sale on the list ... she said "I feel like I'm turning into the 928-equivalent of The Cat Lady. I see all these 928s in need of care and feeding and I think ... Must. Save. Them. Like they are homeless kittens or something..."

It is pretty sad the typical ignorance, cheapness and casual disrespect by many 928 owners. I am trying to start a "rennlister-to-bad-p.o." translation guide:

p.o. "I haven't had to do anything to it".
translation: "I have done absolutely no maintenance, and you will have to do it all".

p.o. "I'm looking for something sportier".
translation: "this car needs an alignment, shocks, brakes, a complete tune up and it runs pretty bad right now. And I'm not going to pay to fix any of it".

p.o. "Looks and runs like new".
translation: "It was new once, I was young once, and I told the truth once".

p.o. "Needs nothing".
translation: "It starts and doesnt catch fire, so that's pretty good-right?"

Don't get me started.
Carl
