Default Shark Sighting in Rockville MD...HID's in Driving Lights?

6:30 this evening on I-270 Northbound, a Guards Red S4 or GT with Tech. Twists or Boxster wheels. Nice car!
Had the driving lights on, and not the headlights..... and I could swear they were HID's. Not the PIAA Blue Light Specials, or other 'blue lights' but HID's.
Are you on the list?
I'm curious about the hookup, where the ballasts go, and if they were installed as an aftermarket kit, or from some late model car with oem HID running lights. I like the huge difference that HID's make for driving (properly aimed HID's I should say). I don't really care about their 'status appeal' to other motorists. That's just silly.
It would be neat to have HID's in place of the halogen driving lights if they were properly set up....but if one went to all the trouble of putting HID's in the driving lights, why not in the headlights (maybe this car had them in the headlights as well)?
Anybody familiar with this setup?
I'm guessing that the setup is still pretty pricey. I guess when Civics & Focuses (Focii?) have them, and the aftermarket kits start coming out, the prices will start to come down.
